Mike Tindall entertained Louis, chatted to Meghan and laughed at Eugenie’s outfit during Jubilee

Mike Tindall showed he is the royal family’s secret weapon during Platinum Jubilee celebrations this weekend with fans branding him the ‘cool, fun uncle’ after he posted aa series of hilarious snaps.

The former England rugby player, 43, who is married to Zara Tindall, entertained an unruly Prince Louis, poked fun at Princess Eugenie’s fashion sense, and chatted with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle during the royal celebrations in London.

Mike, who is father to Mia, eight, Lena, three, and Lucas, one, dutifully accompanied Zara to five different events over the course of the four-day weekend: Trooping the Colour, the Service of Thanksgiving, Epsom Derby, the Platinum Party and the Platinum Pageant.

And at all times Mike appeared in typically jovial spirits and was on hand to help out with all the royal children.

At times during the pageant on Sunday, Louis was seen clenching his fists, sticking out his tongue, waving his arms in the air, putting his hands over his mother’s mouth and standing in his seat for a better view of the spectacle.

Luckily, Mike was on hand to make funny faces at Louis to keep him entertained, and was seen pointing to his eyes, in an ‘I’m watching you’ gesture as Louis’ mother Kate Middleton, 40, looked on and laughed.

While Mike and Zara have no official duties, they are regulars at royal family events, such as church services and important milestones such as the Jubilee. They at Gatcombe Park in Gloucestershire, Princess Anne’s royal estate.

Among some of the funniest snaps that Mike during the four-day Jubilee bank holidays were photos he shared of himself on Instagram, wearing Zara’s hats.

These included the father-of-three wearing his wife’s fuchsia headgear after they attended Trooping the Color on Thursday, as well as giving her bright red floral head after Friday’s thanksgiving service at St Paul’s.

Then, on Saturday, the former athlete traded his top hat with Zara’s blue one as the pair attended Epsom Race Course ahead of that evening’s concert.

Captions accompanying the images referred to which days of the celebrations they corresponded to, suggesting the royal was ticking each day off a to-do list.

Mike kicked-off his series of Instagram snaps, in which he wore Zara’s fascinators, with these photos which he shared on Thursday, when the pair attended Trooping the Color

On Thursday, he wrote: ‘Personal fave of mine! I definitely need to wear more hats.’

Then on Friday, he captioned his pictures: ‘Hats day 2! Fave so far! What color do you think tomorrow will be?’

Saturday’s caption read: ‘Day 3 part one completed! First time out @epsomdownsracecourse. Loved it!! Now to put the [dancing] we!!! #platinumjubilee.’

Mike didn’t stop at just posting his own ensembles on Instagram though: he also posted an image of his wife Zara posing with her cousin Princess Eugenie following Friday’s thanksgiving service.

He gently poked fun at the pair’s brightly colored outfits, as Zara donned a fuchsia Laura green dress, and added an extra splash of color by teaming it with a Juliette Botterill hat in lilac, trimmed with flowers. Meanwhile, Eugenie opted for a bright orange Eugenia Wickstead dress.

Sharing a picture of the pair on social media, to which he added images of brightly colored sweets, he wrote: ‘When you combine your favorite Starbursts!! 2 world class ladies!! #starburst #platinumjubilee.’

Photos also showed Mike chatting with Prince Harry, 37, and his wife Meghan Markle, 40, who flew over from their home in Montecito, California, to join in with the Platinum Celebrations, marking the couple’s first joint royal engagement in two years.

The Sussexes were seated away from senior royals, and were kept apart from Prince William, Kate, Prince Charles and Camilla after royal aides ensured they sat on the other side of the aisle – and they later left separately, not attending a reception straight after at the nearby Guildhall.

Kate and William chatted to Prince Charles and Camilla inside the cathedral, but there was no sign of the same rapport with Harry and Meghan who sat in between Lady Sarah Chatto and Princess Eugenie’s husband Jack Brooksbank, and were under strict instructions to keep a low profile during the event.

Harry and William have had a long-standing feud, while Harry has accused his father Charles of cutting him off financially and Meghan claimed an unnamed royal made a comment about Archie’s skin tone before he was born – with the Sussexes having a war of words with the Palace following last year’s bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview.

Ahead of the four-day festivities, Mike had revealed that although he had no official role to play, he was looking forward to the events.

Speaking about her Majesty on Good Morning Britain last month, the father-of-three said: ‘I think the Queen is an unbelievable lady…I think people think she’s invincible sometimes, but you have to remember she’s a 96-year- old at the end of the day.

‘She’s incredible at what she’s done over her lifetime and I can’t wait to celebrate that.’

Last year, speaking on Channel 5’s, Zara and Mike: No Nonsense Royals royal expert Brenda Emmanus said that the sportsman was an ‘asset to the Firm’ as he was a ‘connection to normal people’.

Mike Tindall has been an asset to the royal family in that he’s a connection to normal people,’ Brenda said.

‘He has a great sense of humor and he’s made them a very modern family

‘They live their own lives and make their own decisions, the public doesn’t pay for them. They’re practical and accessible, the most normal and delightful couple.

‘They’re keen to do their own thing and pay their own way. Sponsorship is carefully crafted to enhance brand Tindall, and they’re making the most to be seen as the embodiment of country life,’ she added.
