Judy requested that everyone wear bright cheerful colors to celebrate her life. Judy was born in Mt. Pleasant, on June 21, 1950, the daughter of Arthur and Virginia (Torpey) Layfield. Judy graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1968 and earned her associates degree from Mid-Michigan Community College. She worked as a (LPN) nurse for 31 years. Judy was a master gardener and served as past president of Mt. Pleasant Garden Club. She was on the founding committee of A Brush with Kindness; The Herb Gathering group founded 30 years ago; and was a member of Community Compassion Network since its inception. Judy was also active with the Isabella Community Soup Kitchen and previously served as the lead cook on Sundays. She was also active with Art Reach, Decorative Painters Association, Audubon Society, and the Landlord Association of Mt. Pleasant. Judy was a compassionate woman with a kind heart and a fun-loving spirit. She had a contagious laugh and a smile that would light up the room. Her love of flowers, books and art only took second place to her love of animals and children. She was always behind the camera capturing life’s moments or shopping for a good bargain. Those who love her remember some of their favorite times being spent listening to Judy tell stories (in her gentle voice) and laughing with her as she laughed at the memories coming to life. Judy is survived by her brothers Gary (Connie) Layfield of Mt. Pleasant, Mike Layfield of Shepherd; sister Marsha Layfield of Mt. Pleasant; nieces and nephews Lisa Warren of Mt. Pleasant, Amy (Bob) Haworth of Kalamazoo, Gary (Dawn) Layfield, Jr. of Charlotte, Jeff Layfield of Mt. Pleasant, Amber (Rayce) Hoover of Marine City, Autumn (Josh) Layfield of Mt.
