Ebay launches ‘Imperfects’ platform to sell designer clothes and shoes for up to 60% off including Balenciaga, North Face and Nike

In a bid to help shoppers amidst a cost of living crisis, and also reduce their environmental footprint, Ebay has launched an ‘Imperfects’ platform to resell slightly defected items that would otherwise go to landfill. Imperfects will sell designer clothes, shoes and accessories with up to 60 per cent off.

Imperfects is selling items from more than 100 high street names, including North Face, Puma, Fila, Timberland, Nike, Adidas and Joules, as well as high end names like Balenciaga, Prada and Gucci. The defects are only slight imperfections like a small scuff or mark, a button missing or a loose thread.

Many of the items are ex-display products, meaning they cannot be sold at full price having not met the manufacturers strict quality standard. All defects are listed on each item with accompanying photos, so customers know exactly what they are buying.

Every purchase from Ebay’s Imperfects platforms also comes with free shipping, 30 day returns and a money back guarantee. The launch tactfully coincides with World Earth Day on Friday, April 22.

Searches for “preloved clothes” have multiplied by nine in the past year, and searches for “used dresses” are up by 156 per cent. EBbay’s Imperfects hopes to help environment conscious shoppers to make greener choices.

Jemma Tadd, Ebay’s head of fashion, said: ““With growing financial pressures and the climate crisis continuing to be at the forefront of consumers’ minds, we’re proud to launch Imperfects as another avenue to help keep fashion items out of landfill.

“It’s often the fashion items that may have not made the ‘cut’ and failed quality assurance checks – as a result customers would not have had the opportunity to purchase the items. eBay is providing a platform for these items to be given a second chance, and be sold, despite their imperfections.”

Highlights of the Imperfects shoes currently online include Nike Air Max 90s down to £69.50 from £115 in various sizes, Adidas Stan Smiths for £35.63 rather than £75, and if you feel like splashing out, Jimmy Choo black high heels down to £319 from £640, all ex-display shoes.

As for bags, shop a Helly Henson Duffel Bag for £63.58 rather than £80, a Joseph Clutch Bag for £45 instead of £300 or a Chloe Shoulder Bag for £849 down from £1,690. For clothes, find Joules Cropped Jeans for £12.95 instead of £54.95, a Joules Floral Dress for £19.95 instead of £69.95, or a North Face Jacket for £161.26 instead of £245.
